Sleeping with a person who snores can take years off your life?  Sleep deprivation lowers one's immune system's capacity to deal with infection - and may even cause weight gain.

Luckily, these days snoring should send you straight to a sleep medicine clinic. It is important to see if you stop breathing during sleep, then shake yourself awake with a big guylp of air, and go back to sleep, not even remembering it happened. Many people are unaware that 70 such episodes occurred every night.

They are very bad for your health, mostly via heart attacks and stroke becoming more likely.

It is also easily fixed via a CPAP machine which keeps you airways expanded enough to that there is no stuffiness or snoring.

      •  Some people just snore (0+ / 0-)

I'm not talking about sleep apnea.  Some people just snore.  Doesn't matter whether they're on their back or their side.  They snore just to annoy others.

Alcohol seems to be a big factor.

Sleep apnea is, indeed, a serious medical problem.  I would never, ever dismiss it as an illness.

        But, some people just snore.

My ex-wife snored.  Perhaps that is part of the reason that I'm so very happily divorced.
